9mobile Losses 6,079 Customers
9mobile has lost subscribers, with 6,079 customers leaving the network in just two months—November and December 2024—according to the latest data from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
The NCC’s report showed that 9mobile lost 2,188 subscribers in December, following a loss of 3,891 in November.
By comparison, MTN, Airtel, and Globacom recorded lower losses in December—236, 269, and 305 customers, respectively.

In terms of new customer gains, MTN led with 1,856 new subscribers in December, while 9mobile gained just 17. In November, MTN saw the highest number of incoming portings, gaining 3,019 new subscribers.
The report also revealed a decline in 9mobile’s market share, dropping to 1.9% in December 2024 from 15.7% in 2015. In contrast, MTN’s market share rose to 51%, with 84.6 million subscribers, while Airtel and Globacom also saw gains.
9mobile’s stagnant subscriber base, now at 3.2 million, highlights the ongoing challenges the company faces.
